My husband's 2nd favorite store besides "Levenger" is Cabela's, in 2005 when we were driving up and down the East Coast to find a place to settle, when we were in PA, we had to stop at Cabela's even though we were not buying.

Myself being born and raised in New England had never heard of Cabela's to me it was and is LL Bean country. He was raised in Illnois and loved Cabela's at the outdoor store to visit. Now, we live only 30 minutes from LL Bean in Freeport, and now Cabela's is coming to Maine it will be and interesting year to see what happens.

After all LL Bean is a Maine staple company, Freeport grew up around LL Bean.

Portland Register reports:

"Cabela fishing and outdoor gear on May 15, the company announced today.

Cabela's said it expects millions of visitors to stop by the store in the first year of operation.

The 125,000-square-foot store is on Haigis Parkway at exit 42 of the Maine Turnpike. It will include hundreds of animals in dioramas, including an African scene, a "Conservation Mountain" with running waterfalls and a stream, a trout pond and stuffed wild game, a 10,700-gallon aquarium stocked with freshwater fish, a laser shooting gallery, gun library, restaurant, general store, fly-fishing, bargain section and gift shop.
