It is that time of year again, New Years Eve! What the we call "amateur" night in the Restaurant business, because a lot of people that go out on NYE this is the only night of the year, they go out and they feel they need to make the most of it. It is rare that I go out on this day, in 2004 my husband now but was fiance then went to the "Yantic River Inn" in Norwich, CT and had so much fun.
I had won $100 the night before and we were going to blow it, which was so hard. Dinner, Dancing, glass of champagne was $40.00 per couple and a bottle of Wine was $20, so we left the rest for a tip. The band not so good, but fun to watch, we dressed up, we were 39 and 35 respectfully and the youngest people in the place. The Husband danced with all the women, and received plenty of kisses at Midnight, we really had a great time. Since, then we have either had people in or we have had to work.
This year, I will be working until about 8pm, and then we will have a big dinner at home, and I am sure be in bed before Midnight. What will everyone out there be doing?
I have been thinking about the last year, it has been a bit tougher than we anticipated, the husband's business has been slow going, the economy does not help, with starting a home based business, I know he is working really hard at it, and I want it to be successful. I sometimes resent that I have to go out to work, but we talked about this, it is just prices keep going up and I am at the same pay I was in 2009, so it is harder than I thought it would be. We did pay off the Car loan in November, and of course that means things start to go wrong with the car. We had to replace the battery, and today, the brakes, and 4 new tires. On the other hand the car is a 2005 and we have had it since 2006 and have never had to put anything besides regular maintenance in the car, so once all of these are fixed we should be all set, we do need an inspection and registered by 12/31.
My New Years Resolution is to be more optimistic ! Happy New Year Everyone!

I was making our bed today, and I realized our bed looks like a hotel room bed. I had to take some pictures, if you didn't know I work in hotels and judge every hotel room I walk into, this might give everyone a hint.
For Christmas, I would love new bedding for our bed, we have 450 thread count sheets, but I wish we had 600 thread count maybe Santa is listening.. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and gets all their wishes. We are not exchanging presents this year and I am ok with that, we are together and healthy and wil see the family and that is all I really need.

I have not been able to get the tragedy of last Friday out of my mind. I believe in God but have been very lax to say the least, but over the past week I have found myself needing something, so I have begun praying and talking to God. Last night, I went to a Candlelight Vigil one of my co-workers asked what is the point of a Candlelight Vigil? I had to think about it, and truly did not know how to answer except to say, people need to feel connected to other people in this crazy world and especially the tragedy that took place in Connecticut.
I am not sure if I was right or wrong on my answer, but I did feel a bit better standing in a circle and praying to God. When I got home it just would not leave me this feeling that there is more to this world than the here and now. I could not sleep well last night, and really not for the end of the world thing for the fact next week is Christmas and the families who have presents that will never be opened, the smiling faces of their children when they see "Santa" has come will not happen no kodak moment, there will be an empty spot at the Christmas dinner table,it is overwhelming to me the grief those families are feeling.
I keep listening to the debate about Gun Control Laws, no offense to anyone but when someone has it in their mind to committ this horrible act and they have a gun, they are going to do it no matter what the law says. He was mentally ill, so why not instead of putting more gun laws on the books, we put money into Mental Health? I read that his mom was planning on moving across the country to get him help, was there no place closer? Was he ever on medication and then due to being "20" in the minds of the law means he can make his own decisions? I know this debate will keep going on, but I feel our resources should be to help this unstable people more then gun laws.
A few years ago, I wrote a letter to the editor of a local paper in regards to more laws and boy was I naive, I got lambasted on the subject. I truly believed all the senseless killings would stop with more gun laws. I now see the issue is more deep, and we must look at what makes these young people snap and committ such horrible crimes.
Should children be so medicated from the time they start school that when they reach the age of 18 they can now make their own decisions and do not want to feel a bit off, or out of it, they go off their meds and how do you treat and "adult" who feels they know themselves best? I am not pretending to know the answers to any of this, I am just trying to find a meaning to these senseless acts.
My open prayer to God:
Dear God,
There are no words to say how saddened the world is from the Tragedy of December 14, 2013 at 930am in Newtown,CT. I ask that you embrace all these angels who were just living their lives an they were cut down too early, they need your love right now. They will be scared and not understanding why they can not see their parents any longer. We still here are trying to grasp how to go on and figure it out, which may never happen. We love all these lost souls, and pray they are in your loving arms.
Amen.

Ever since Friday, I have been thinking so much about the families who lost their beautiful, children and what is a senseless act of violence. I have been listening to the debate on gun control which I am all for, but on the other hand do we think more gun control would of stopped this boy? I do not mean to be disrespectful to anyone, but he was going to do this no matter if there was gun control or not. We should look into what is being done for the mentally disabled. Could this boy have been treated if we knew exactly what was wrong in his head?
Can we put money into helping the mentally disabled? Below is an article that breaks your heart, on how this single mother is dealing with her son who has signs of anger that is not in the normal range. For a child to admit it scares him too, is it treatable? Why is there not government money going toward mental health? President Obama says, "we need to do better." Exactly, what is he referring to?
I wonder is mental illness hereditary? How do we treat the people who have mental disorders? What are the signs? There are so many questions, and not a lot of answers. I am just asking how do we help these young people?
(CNN) -- Liza Long didn't think anyone would notice her blog outside of a small circle of friends. But she was wrong, way wrong. Millions of people were keenly interested in the Idaho mother's struggles with the 13-year-old son she loves and fears.

(CNN) -- Liza Long didn't think anyone would notice her blog outside of a small circle of friends. But she was wrong, way wrong. Millions of people were keenly interested in the Idaho mother's struggles with the 13-year-old son she loves and fears.
A 40-year-old single mother of four, Long teaches English at a small college in Boise. On Friday she posted a brutally honest essay on her blog, The Anarchist Soccer Mom. It struck a nerve in the wake of the mass shooting in which 20 children died at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
Over the weekend, it seemed, everybody was sharing the post and talking about The Anarchist Soccer Mom. Then came the backlash, as others criticized her for committing her son and writing about it publicly.
For Long, the blog post was "a cry for help, a real gut-check article," she said, a way to articulate for friends the cold, gripping fear she has been living with for so long. She finally came to terms with an issue she'd been avoiding: Something serious is up with this boy. He goes into uncontrollable rages, he threatens violence and he is getting harder to control.
She doesn't yet have a specific diagnosis, and she doesn't know what to do.
"He's in a good mood most of the time," she wrote. "But when he's not, watch out. And it's impossible to predict what will set him off."
On Wednesday, Long followed a social worker's advice and committed her son to an acute care psychiatric facility. During an argument over whether he could wear blue pants to school, he had threatened to kill himself by jumping out of the car. It was a line she'd warned him not to cross.
A few weeks earlier, she called police when he pulled a knife, threatening to kill her and himself when he was asked to return overdue library books. He was strapped to a gurney and taken to a hospital emergency room, where he eventually calmed down.
During the argument over the pants, he threw yet another "full-blown fit," complete with screaming and hitting. "I hugged him close, so he couldn't escape from the car," she wrote. "He bit me several times and repeatedly jabbed his elbows into my rib cage. I'm still stronger than he is, but I won't be for much longer."
A psychiatric commitment is Idaho's temporary solution, lasting 10 to 14 days. After that, she says, her only other option is jail or juvenile detention.
A leap of faith is required when listening to Long's heart-wrenching story because confidentiality laws surrounding mental health issues make it difficult if not impossible to verify. But Long provided details, including the names of the hospital and her son's school program, and offered to make copies of ambulance and hospital bills available.
"No one wants to send a 13-year-old genius who loves Harry Potter and his snuggle animal collection to jail," she wrote in her blog. "But our society, with its stigma on mental illness and its broken health care system, does not provide us with other options. Then another tortured soul shoots up a fast food restaurant. A mall. A kindergarten classroom. And we wring our hands and say, 'Something must be done.'"
Long says she has been told that her best option is to file criminal charges and build a paper trail.
"It's just total, total frustration," she said over the phone. "Why are we doing this to the mentally ill? He's not a bad kid. He's a troubled kid. I just want to get help for my son."
"Michael," as she calls him on the blog, is exceptionally bright, with an "off-the-charts IQ." But his temper had always gone far beyond the usual childhood tantrums. And his behavior grew stranger as he entered middle school.
"If I could, I would wish my son into normalcy by sheer force of will," Long said. "I realized I was doing my family a disservice by thinking we were managing it. It's been so hard on them. These kids are just so hurt. It's really hurting our whole family. Frankly, I think my son is scared of himself."
Since committing him, she has visited her son daily. After the first day, Michael was angry and vengeful. After the second day, he started to calm down. By the third day "he totally owned all the behavior," tearfully telling her, "Mom, I'm scared, too."
"He does tend to forget about when he's violent," she explained. "He sees red and then he's gone."
She added that she has told him about her viral blog post, which she titled "Thinking the Unthinkable." Others who picked it up, including the Huffington Post and Gawker, changed the headline to "I am Adam Lanza's mother."
Long wrote that she thinks about her son every time there is a mass shooting. She fears that he might someday be capable of such explosive violence.
"I love my son. But he terrifies me," Long wrote. "I am sharing this story because I am Adam Lanza's mother. I am Dylan Klebold's mother and Eric Harris' mother. I am James Holmes' mother. I am Jared Loughner's mother. I am Seun-Hui Cho's mother, " she wrote, rattling off the names behind some of the nation's most notorious mass shootings: Sandy Hook Elementary School; Columbine High School; a crowded movie theater in Aurora, Colorado; a shopping center near Tucson, Arizona; Virginia Tech.
"And these boys -- and their mothers -- need help," she added. "In the wake of another horrific national tragedy, it's easy to talk about guns. But it's time to talk about mental illness."
Long says Michael is a sweet boy most of the time. When he throws fits, he is so scary that she gathers up the knives, scissors and other sharp implements and keeps them with her in a plastic container. She says her other kids -- ages 15, 9 and 7 -- know the "safety drill" by heart: When Michael starts to go off, they run into the car and lock the doors.
Thousands of people have posted comments on her blog -- nearly 3,000 by Monday night. Many of them thanked her, and said they were in similar situations.
"I am moved to tears because this is my story, too," one woman posted under the name "Michigan Miss."
"I can't believe it. You just described my brother!" wrote "Rachel."
"I raised a boy like your 'Michael.' I get it. I so get it," wrote "Lynne."
But there were critics as well, including an equally passionate, equally viral blog by writer Sarah Kendzior, who accused Long of invading "Michael's" privacy with "vindictive and cruel posts about her children in which she fantasizes about beating them, locking them up and giving them away." In many of the posts, Kendzior notes, Long's "allegedly insane and violent son is portrayed as a normal boy who incites her wrath by being messy, buying too many Apple products and supporting Obama."
Kendzior did not respond to an e-mail requesting comment, and by midafternoon it appeared the two bloggers had reached a truce. They posted a joint statement on both of their blogs: "Whatever disagreements we have had, we both believe that the stigma attached to mental illness needs to end. We need to provide affordable, quality mental health care for families. We need to provide support for families who have a relative who is struggling."
Both agreed that privacy is paramount for family members, especially children.
"Neither of us anticipated the viral response to our posts," the statement continued. "We are not interested in being part of a 'mommy war.' We are interested in opening a serious conversation on what can be done for families in need."
Long, who says she's "kind of an introvert," hasn't owned a television set since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. She didn't go looking for fame, but one viral blog post later, fame found her.
She began making the rounds at the television networks before dawn on Monday, appearing on NBC's "Today" show, then chatting with Diane Sawyer over at ABC and again with CNN's Erin Burnett. And then she put it all behind her, pleased that she was able to get the conversation started.

About 35 years ago, ( I can not believe it) my church group with parents would come up to New Hampshire and go skiing for the weekend. We would leave after school and work on Friday and then stay until Monday. We would stay in a building like this one ( It could be it), and have a common room downstairs, it was always so much fun.
When my husband I moved to New Hampshire in 2009, I have often thought of this, and yesterday, I decided to drive out and see if the building is still there. The resort is the King Pine Ski area, and this building in picture I believe is the same building or just a new building in the same spot. The resort has definately grown up!
I just remember this time always being something to look forward too and a giant slumber party, I wonder if the parents were downstairs with some wine in front of the fireplace while us kids were upstairs jumping from room to room and rough housing? I would like to think they enjoyed it as much as we did. I really have not skiied much in the last 30 years, here or there but will always have great memories of these ski trips with the church.

Burning an American flag proved fatal for a Pakistani protester, who reportedly died from inhaling fumes from the ignited icon of independence.
Some 10,000 people rallied this week in Lahore, the capital of the Punjab province, to protest the movie trailer that Muslims say insults Islam, according to the International Herald-Tribune. One participant, identified as Abdullah Ismail, died after being taken to an area hospital. Witnesses said he had complained of feeling sick from the smoke from American flags burnt at the rally.
The rally was organized on the city's landmark mall by the Tehreek Hurmat-i-Rasool. Despite a ban on rallies on The Mall, local officials blocked off the road leading to it from noon to 6 p.m., apparently to facilitate the event.
The film trailer that has spurred angry protests throughout the Middle East, "Innocence of Muslims," was produced by a California man. The trailer ridicules Islam and depicts the Prophet Muhammad as a fraud, a womanizer and a pedophile.
But protesters asserted it was created with the backing of the U.S. government.
“The U.S. must make a law against blasphemy – or we will not let the US consulates in Pakistan function,” a rally organizer told the paper.

Well, it is officially the end of summer. It is labor day weekend. I am of course, working both Saturday and Sunday. The Origins of Labor Day from United States Department of Labor:

Labor Day: How it Came About; What it Means
Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
Founder of Labor Day
More than 100 years after the first Labor Day observance, there is still some doubt as to who first proposed the holiday for workers.
Some records show that Peter J. McGuire, general secretary of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners and a cofounder of the American Federation of Labor, was first in suggesting a day to honor those "who from rude nature have delved and carved all the grandeur we behold."
But Peter McGuire's place in Labor Day history has not gone unchallenged. Many believe that Matthew Maguire, a machinist, not Peter McGuire, founded the holiday. Recent research seems to support the contention that Matthew Maguire, later the secretary of Local 344 of the International Association of Machinists in Paterson, N.J., proposed the holiday in 1882 while serving as secretary of the Central Labor Union in New York. What is clear is that the Central Labor Union adopted a Labor Day proposal and appointed a committee to plan a demonstration and picnic.
Since, I have been in Hospitality all these years 20+, for me it just means I am working and it is the end of one season of tourist and the beginning of another demographics. I had a phone call today, from someone who wanted a "Tour" due to she is off this weekend. I explained today ( Saturday) I am here until about 5pm or 6pm and tomorrow due to a late wedding will be in around 2pm. She was rude and expected me to jump up an come in the morning for her. I have worked many hotels and it is not common at all for a "Sales Person" to be in on Sunday. I actually do not need to be in before 3pm but was willing to come in at 2pm for her, not good enough and she hung up.
I am hung up on this, due to the fact, people think Hospitality People should never have a day off, and should be at their beck and call. Now, I am here Tues-Sat. and my Director Mon-Friday, so the only day not covered in Sales is Sunday, you can not find another time? I have made exceptions and come in on Sunday, due to being when I have a function and need to come in and check anyway, or the person is like me an has Sun/Mon off. Unfortunately, not once when I made these exceptions did the people book with me. One was even 1 hour late ( excuse me)!!
One major hotel chain sales was Mon-Fri and until Noon on Saturday. So, for you to get a sales person on a Saturday is rare, I work in a small boutique hotel and my schedule is Tues -Sat. so I can meet with Brides, and be here for the functions. I deserve my two days off, even though this time of year, I rarely have my two days off. During the crazy months I come in every Sunday for at least 2 hours, but I wear my shorts and do not meet with clients it is to do paperwork and make sure the tip outs are correct for my staff.

I am just appalled that someone would not take into consideration that yes, we are here to service our clients and book new clients but we are also human and deserve to be treated with respect, and if we have a schedule and are willing to move it a bit for you, do not take the attitude that is not good enough!!

Upset about Project Runway "Designer Ven"
At the beginning of the series I thought he was a pompos a** but he had the talent to back it up.
Then this week, he got a chance to work with a real size person, and instead of embracing it, he was a total dirtbag. How dare you talk to a client, by saying you are too big? Seriously? Then you b**** to the camera and anyone who will listent that you got the bigget client and could not work with it.
A designer is suppose to have the talent to create anything for anyone. Who does he think is going to buy his clothes only the Stick thin 1% of the population?
Even Vera Wang has clothes for the every woman and she actually has talent. I was so upset, I am a size 14 and if anyone talked to me the way he did I would of popped in the N***!
It was suppose to be a boost for these women and he failed! I wish he went home.

When I was a little girl, I loved the show "Family Affair" and my favorite character was this doll that Buffy always had Mrs. Beasley. One Christmas I begged my mom for one, and she did get me my own Mrs. Beasley doll. It went everywhere with me, I am sure if we found it today somewhere in my parents cellar it would be very well used and missing things. To me she was my best friend.
This Sunday, we were in a Thift Store and I found one in this box, No I did not buy it but I had to take a picture! I am sending this out to everyone who wants to remember all the good things from your childhood. This brings back a flood of emotions and how much fun it was to be a little girl and have a doll you loved go everywhere with you! Do kids even have dolls anymore?
Mrs. Beasley was the best ever! I even had a little buffy doll that she held so cool!!

Last night, I watched the Olympics, and was so impressed with Gabby Douglas. I could not stay awake to see if she took the Gold, which we all know by now she did. Congratulations to Gabby! This girl who is just 16 has so much concentration it was incredible to watch.
It must be overwhelming to be participating in your chosen sport in front of the World and to be so young and to keep it together to reach your dreams! I always love watching the Olympics but for me it is Swimming ( my sport) and Gymnastics which I was awful at, all I could do was the vault and not very well, my sister was on the Gymnastics team and I always am amazed on the Beam.
Really, a little skinny beam and do flips on it and not fall off REALLY? Who invented this balance beam and said now fly off of it and land in one movement? Torture to me, but she made it look so easy..
I just want to say, so glad to be an American and to watch such a glorious performance by such a young girl.

Today, is a blue day for me! I just can not feel motivated to either do my work or do go out of my way to help people. Not a good thing for someone who is in the customer service industry. If I could just stay in my office all day and not have to deal with clients and I might make it through the day.
The husband is in Illnois, his grandmother passed away and he is out there for the funeral and to be there for his mom. I wish I could of gone with him, but at this time of year it is really impossible for me to leave work for any length of time, which just stinks.
He is being strong for his family but I know he is sad and needs support himself. He said, he made a speech at the memorial service last night to represent the grandchildren, due to he being the oldest. He thinks he did bad, but I am sure since it was from the heart it was wondeful. It made me remember Thomas funeral and how I broke down trying to speak, I truly miss him everyday.
Work has been quite tough right now, an I wonder if it is just me that is making it harder than it has to be? I need to snap out of it an bring my A-Game. Just sometimes it sucks to have to play the corporate game, my boss stole one of my pieces of business and put in her name when it is reversed I do not do that, I make sure it goes under her name.
Well back to work!!

I have been in the Hotel industry for over 20+years, and I do like watching these shows on hotels to see how to improve my own skills and what other hotels are having issues with, and how they are getting help. How qualified is Gordon Ramsay on hotels? Being in the industry, I want to know his background in hotels.
By, Dennis Nessler, Editor, Hotel Business:
I have to say I find it curious to see what passes for exciting TV in this day and age. The general public’s insatiable need to get a “behind the scenes” look at just about anything ranging from Las Vegas pawn shops to New York City restaurant kitchens, seems to be increasing by the day. And these industries have most certainly benefitted monetarily from the heightened attention.
So, of course, it stands to reason that the hotel industry would eventually get its day in the sun. Last year, several high profile CEOs, including Steve Joyce of Choice Hotels International, Kim Schaefer of Great Wolf Lodge and Jonathan Tisch of Loews Hotels, were part of the Undercover Bosses series on CBS—and in the case of Tisch, the Now Who’s Boss? Series on TLC—and received quite a bit of attention.
In addition, the Travel Channel recently green-lighted a second season of the Hotel Impossible series with “hotel fixer” Anthony Melchiorri. During the hour-long program, which airs on Monday nights, Melchiorri takes a look at struggling properties and identifies problem areas in an effort to help them turn around their performance.
The good news for the hotel industry is that the show’s premiere season was an indisputable success with solid ratings and positive feedback from viewers. In fact, Melchiorri, who was at the recent HITEC show in Baltimore and has more than 20 years of experience in the hotel industry, told me that he has been amazed at the amount of attention he has received. However, he also told me that his greatest concern in this endeavor is not his new TV career, which has taken off, but ultimately how the show is viewed by the lodging industry.
After all, we in the industry know that running a hotel, whether it’s a 70-room economy property of a 500-room luxury hotel, is not an easy task. We fully realize the training and experience that are required to do it successfully, while to the general public it may seem like no big deal. Much like an umpire in baseball, a really good general manager is rarely even noticed.
So perhaps these programs will allow customers to gain a better understanding and appreciation of what hoteliers go through, particularly when things don’t go right. If they do that’s fine, however, that shouldn’t be the goal because the reality is as an industry we need to continue to raise the bar on service, not lower it.
Hopefully, the success of these shows will ultimately inspire another level of service and a general sharing of best practices. But the benefits can be even more widespread. For an industry often struggling to have a voice on Capitol Hill, the more it becomes part of the public’ consciousness, the better the chances that lawmakers might help fight for our causes.
But perhaps the greatest benefit of the increased exposure can be to encourage young people that this industry can be a worthwhile profession. Skilled labor is the very lifeblood of this business and the more qualified and passionate workers we have the better the industry will be in the long run. And quite frankly, if that is the only impact of these shows than they will still have been a huge success.
At press time, Fox had unveiled plans for a new series called Hotel Hell with the always outspoken chef Gordon Ramsay, and it is set to make its TV debut on Aug. 13. Ready or not, the hotel industry is moving into prime time. It may be all about ratings to the programming executives, but to us, there’s much more at stake—and that is its reputation among future guests

Ok, I have been following the Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes story since it began, Tom Cruise is my age and Katie I always thought was too young for him, and the fact, he blind sided Nicole Kidman what type of man does that?
I believe Scientology is a made up religion and the actors join it to be different from everyone else and to make is seem more than it is, which is a cult. I am glad Katie got her voice back, and now you have to wonder what backlash Tom's friends will have for Katie trying for Sole custody, it was fine when he did it to Nicole but all of sudden it is not fine when it is done to him?
From Fox news Webpage.
LOS ANGELES – It has been exactly one week since Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise, five years after their fairy tale wedding in an Italian castle. Now their divorce saga is being played out in the media like a fairy tale, with Holmes the fair princess escaping the evil villain, her Scientologist husband Cruise.Over the past seven days, international headlines have included “Katie Holmes Escapes Camp Cuckoo,” “Katie Protecting Suri From ‘Spy’ Training,” and “Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Divorce: What Makes Clever Women Stick By Creeps For So Long?”
So why is it that Cruise, who is known, particularly in reporter circles, for being consistently kind, gracious and accommodating (qualities not always found among the A-list), being portrayed as an evil, controlling figure?
"Tom Cruise will be painted as the bad guy in the narrative about his divorce from Katie Holmes irrespective of any facts that may emerge. His comments about mental well-being and his connection with the Church of Scientology all combine to make him appear to be kooky to many people and that image now fits into any storyline that involves his name,” PR guru Gene Grabowski told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column.Human behavior guru Dr. Patrick Wanis concurred that regardless of what happens as the custody battle goes down, Holmes will always have the advantage of public opinion on her side.
“Tom will be seen as the evil/bad guy because she is playing the victim card while also playing the protective mother. The divorce is being portrayed as a battle over religions – Catholicism versus Scientology – and the public generally fears Scientology,” Wanis said. “Katie is being portrayed as fleeing the grips of powerful and controlling man who wants to brainwash her daughter, and women in particular are going to side with Katie, because women believe that they know better than men do about how to raise children.”
According to longtime entertainment reporter Michael Cohen, Cruise has himself to blame. Cohen says the “Top Gun” star’s image took a turn for the worst the moment he jumped on Oprah’s couch to declare his love for Holmes back in 2005.
“Public scrutiny comes with the job, and perhaps no celeb in the entire world has been more controlling of what they look like and say than Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise had one of the most sparkling Hollywood personas until his famous incident where he jumped on Oprah's couch,” he explained. “That was certainly when public opinion began to sway towards thinking Tom was kooky. That sentiment was only compounded with his association with the Church of Scientology which is confusing at best for many of his fans.”
Adding fuel to the fire, it seems Holmes is determined to let the world know that she is as happy as can be, and certainly not holed up inside her New York apartment sobbing over her broken marriage and the bitter custody battle that is likely to come.
On Monday, she was all smiles while playing guest judge on an episode of Lifetime’s “Project Runway,” and on Tuesday she stepped out with daughter Suri for ice-cream, where she was snapped happily laughing. On Thursday the mom and daughter made a gleeful excursion to the Children's Museum of the Arts in Soho, Manhattan.
But those smiles may not last, as it now appears as though Team Cruise is carefully getting their ducks in a row and preparing to fight back.
TMZ reports that those close to Cruise think Holmes’ camp is leaking false stories that she was trying to save Suri from Scientology. They say Holmes was committed to the religious organization, which had nothing to do with the divorce. Cruise’s supporters also told the website that Holmes’posse has even made it very challenging for the actor to talk to his daughter.
Another Cruise source tells FOX411's Pop Tarts column that his reputation as the “bad guy” in the split is unjust, and that working with Tom over the years has been nothing but positive.
“He is by far the nicest A-list star I’ve ever dealt with,” said the source. “He always took time out to thank everyone, shake their hands, and always really cared about his wife and kids."
Some also argue that Holmes knew what she was getting herself into when she said “I Do.”
“Katie chose to marry Hollywood’s most powerful man, someone who clearly supports and promotes Scientology," said Wanis. “Cruise’s adopted children are still in Scientology, so it would have been obvious to her that it was Cruise’s plan to raise any future children in Scientology.”
Reps for Holmes and Cruise did not respond to requests for comment.

Ok, so on Monday evening, my husband swore he had his last cigarette an he wanted me to throw out the ashtrays, but in my heart of hearts I knew it was going to take awhile. Last night, he had a breakdown and was a complete "dick" to me, I had to drive him to the store to pick up cigarettes, he always thought he could quit anytime but after 20 years of smoking not so easy on your own.
I hate that he smokes and want him to get healthy, but unless he is doing it for himself he can never quit. You have to want to do it for yourself not for me. I know I need to lose weight but until I am willing to do the work and commit to it for Me! It is so not going to happen.
I realize it is so tough, and saw it in him the last few nights he would go to bed early to not deal with the antsy feeling! He now is trying to wean himself off of the cigarettes, we will have to wait and see if it happens. I believe he can do it, but he needs to want to do it, not keep saying he is doing it for me.

This link is about the Norwichtown Mall closing and being reborn "Norwichtown Commons".
Growing up the "mall' was the cool place to hang out, we would ride our bikes there, my first job was Sunday's at Caledors in the jewerly department. The Arcade was the place to see the boy you liked, and Styles is where you would do your back to school shopping. Need a gift, why not the Drugstore? Going to the roller ring, stop at the drugstore to get your bonnie bell strawberry lip gloss..
Hang out with friends at the Bee Bee Diary Bar. It has been in need of new stores, and a refresh look for many years, I have such great memories it is nice to see it getting some TLC.

Start of Memorial Day weekend 2012, and I heard on the news this morning that of the million people traveling today most will be in their cars. Top Destinations: Las Vegas, NY, Mrytle Beach and Atlantic City. I myself am working and then on Sunday going over to Long Lake in Maine to see my mom.
Unfortunately, not spending time with the whole family that will have to wait until July 4. I want everyone to remember why we celebrate Memorial Day, not for the hot dogs for our troops who fought and seeing fighting for our rights.
