A chain Restaurant not be missed "Dicks Last Resort" Bring your sense of humor you will need it.
Part 3 of 3
This might be extended, but I wanted to finish up my take on Great Restaurants, that I have been to and why to me they are the best:
A friend of mine said once, that her and her husband do not go to chain restaurants. Well, I thought of that statement and thought, oh yeah me neither, but then I realized that is not true. Best Bargain: Olive Garden Soup and Salad, comes with bread sticks for $5.95 Per Person, and they will refill the Soup and Salad as many times you would like, my husband usually goes with 2 bowls of soup and we do go through (2) Bowls of Soup and (2) Orders of the Bread Sticks. Well worth the Price… BEWARE: of the Olive Garden on Independence Drive in Charlotte, WORSE SERVICE EVER!!
Best China Buffet: East – Charlotte, NC $7.95 all you can eat dinner, on Saturday’s and Sundays it is $10.95 Still worth it. You can even take out by the Pound. So much variety, service is great, helpful and quick.
Best Places that we love, but are special occasions due to Price: The first two are chains:
Big Bowl – Chicago IL area -Big Bowl is a pioneering Asian restaurant, vibrant in design and cuisine, offering the latest in authentic Chinese and Thai food. Using market-fresh ingredients, Big Bowl's signatures include "dim-sum sized" appetizers, pad Thai, seafood, some truly hot and spicy food, and fresh made ginger ale. Big Bowl believes that the origin of your food says a lot about the quality and flavor, that's why Big Bowl buys seasonal produce from local framers and only serves heirloom pork and all natural, antibiotic free chicken that's raised on family farms. Don't forget Big Bowl when planning a festive occasion. Big Bowl brings both ingredients for any good party, great food and great surroundings. True Chinese and Thai food can be enjoyed at four Big Bowl Locations-one at Cedar and Rush, another at Ohio and State and one in Lincolnshire and Schaumburg. Big Bowl- For Fresh Chinese and Thai! We had went after we each had massages during our honeymoon, and it was so fresh and good, we could not get enough and during our week in Chicago we went 2 more times to the other locations.
Capital Grille- Providence, RI, Chicago, IL and Charlotte, NC We love all of these, service is incredible no matter which one you go to and the food is excellent. You will spend money, to us well worth it. Our favorite is Providence, due to we were there the night after our wedding, we were flying out of Providence the next day for our honeymoon and we went there, when we called for reservations the hostess asked if it was anything special we were celebrating. Of course, we told them and when we got there, complimentary glasses of Champagne and a dessert.
Melting Pot- Greensboro, NC – The only one we have been to, you will be there for atleast 3-4 hours, my advise do not eat much during the day, because you will be stuffed when you leave. We were lucky enough to go with another fun couple, we shared everything, had wines, cocktails and the bill was well over $200.00 but to us WORTH IT! This was the best service I had ever seen, the waitress knew what she was doing and was never intrusive, but helpful with suggestions. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience because that is what it is.
A few more places, I love that our not chains ( not that I know of anyway)
Best Breakfast: Noah’s Stonington, CT
Best “fun” bar, no matter your age: Stash’s New London, CT and old friend of mine Graham Thompson ( Sugardaddy band) – has kept up the fun, bands at Stash’s.
Best Rueben: Now, this is a toss up for me, Foothills in Winston-Salem, NC is high on my list, but I believe my Best would have to go to North End Deli, Groton, CT
Best Cajun: The Cajun Queen- Charlotte, NC – I took my husband here for his first birthday we were celebrating in Charlotte, December 2005. Sat in the Red room, had so much fun.Enjoy the friendly, laid-back atmosphere of 'Nawlins without having to leave your back yard. Experience the sensation of true New Orleans cuisine has never been easier. We have a number of entree and drink specialties, including Dixie Beer - the beer that made New Orleans famous!
Best Wine Bar: 6th and Vine- Winston-Salem, NC sit out on the Patio in the back, yes there is one there. The food is so good, definitely try their Cheese Platter while drinking the wine you will very much enjoy the experience. Small, so does get crowded on Friday afternoons.
Best Brunch: Too many to choice from, but here is a few different places:Boudreaux Louisiana Kitchen- Charlotte, NC Cajun style, fun sit outside if you can, worth it to watch all the people around the NODA section of Charlotte.
Village Tavern- Winston Salem, NC
Bintliff’s American CafĂ©- Portland, ME
Honorable Mention Places
Beale Street- Bath, ME BBQ
BUBBA’s BBQ- Charlotte, NC
LEXINGTON BBQ- Winston-Salem, NC
